Cloudflare CDN Cost Calculator
Estimate a Cloudflare bill from plan fee, Argo smart routing and the origin egress that caching still leaves behind.
Inputs
Argo routes over Cloudflare's backbone instead of the public internet and bills per GB.
Cloudflare does not bill delivery per GB, but your origin still bills egress on every cache miss.

Values used
Traffic delivered to users = 40 TB/month; Cloudflare plan = Business; Edge cache hit ratio = 92 %; Enable Argo Smart Routing = Yes; Argo price per GB = 0.1000 USD/GB; Load balancing and other add-ons = 5 USD/month; Origin cloud egress price = 0.0900 USD/GB
Cloudflare CDN Cost
cost = plan fee + add-ons + (Argo price × delivered GB if enabled) + (1 − cache hit ratio) × delivered GB × origin egress price.
Monthly Cost
= 4,595.91
Plan and Add-on Fees
= 205.00
Argo Smart Routing Charge
= 4,096.00
Origin Egress on Cache Misses
= 294.91
Origin Egress Avoided by Caching
= 3,391.49
Cost of Serving Everything From Origin
= 3,686.40
How it works
Cloudflare's headline model is a flat plan fee with no per-GB delivery charge, so the variable part of the bill comes from optional add-ons like Argo and — crucially — from the origin egress your own cloud still bills on every cache miss. Raising the hit ratio therefore cuts the bill even though the CDN itself does not meter bytes. Comparing a flat-fee CDN with a per-GB one only works if you count origin egress on both sides, which is where most CDN comparisons go wrong. Plan pricing, Argo rates and enterprise commits all change, so confirm current pricing with Cloudflare and your origin provider.
Formula
Cloudflare CDN Cost
cost = plan fee + add-ons + (Argo price × delivered GB if enabled) + (1 − cache hit ratio) × delivered GB × origin egress price.
- plan fee
- Flat monthly charge for the zone's plan tier
- Argo price
- Per-GB charge for routing over the provider backbone
- origin egress price
- What your origin cloud bills to answer a cache miss
Frequently Asked Questions
How is Cloudflare CDN Cost calculated?
cost = plan fee + add-ons + (Argo price × delivered GB if enabled) + (1 − cache hit ratio) × delivered GB × origin egress price.
Why does Cloudflare CDN Cost matter?
Comparing a flat-fee CDN with a per-GB one only works if you count origin egress on both sides, which is where most CDN comparisons go wrong. Plan pricing, Argo rates and enterprise commits all change, so confirm current pricing with Cloudflare and your origin provider.
What values do I need to enter?
This calculator takes 7 inputs: Traffic delivered to users, Cloudflare plan, Edge cache hit ratio, Enable Argo Smart Routing, Argo price per GB, Load balancing and other add-ons, Origin cloud egress price. The pre-filled defaults are a realistic starting point — replace them with figures from your own environment for a result you can act on.
