Track progress toward an insurance deductible.
A deductible is the eligible spending you cover yourself before the plan starts paying its share. Progress is credited spending divided by the deductible, capped at 100 percent because anything above the deductible no longer counts toward it. Dividing what is left by your typical monthly eligible spend gives a rough month when cost sharing kicks in, which is useful for timing elective care.
Remaining deductible
Remaining = max(0, deductible - min(spent, deductible))
Months to meet
Months = remaining / monthly eligible spend
Estimate only. Actual amounts depend on your plan documents, network status and claim processing. Confirm with your insurer or benefits administrator.

Almost always at the start of each plan year, which may not be January. Check the plan-year dates before assuming a January reset.
