Activity spending is the least predictable part of a holiday budget because it is decided day by day, on the ground, with children present. Structuring it in advance helps: decide how many days will be free — beach, pool, walking — and how many paid activities you will do on the others. One and a half per active day is a realistic pace for a family; two or more per day is exhausting and rarely happens. The total then follows from activity count times per-person cost times travellers, which is where the number becomes real: 7.5 activities for four people at 22 dollars each is 660 dollars, easily the third largest line in a family holiday after travel and accommodation.

One, or one and a half at most. Travel between venues, meals and rest take more of the day than the itinerary suggests, and over-scheduling wastes money on things you rush.
Set the total in advance and book the two or three things that matter before you travel. Deciding on the day, in front of children, is how the budget gets doubled.
