Work out ideal body weight instantly with clear inputs, formula shown and shareable results.
Ideal body weight formulas all take a base weight at five feet and add a fixed amount per inch above it. Devine gives 50 kg plus 2.3 kg per inch for men, so 1.75 m (68.9 inches) yields 70.5 kg. Robinson and Miller give lower figures and Hamwi higher; all four were designed for drug dosing rather than as aesthetic targets.
Devine formula
men: 50 + 2.3 kg per inch over 5 ft; women: 45.5 + 2.3
Robinson formula
men: 52 + 1.9 per inch; women: 49 + 1.7
These figures are population-average estimates, not a medical assessment or diagnosis. Body composition equations carry errors of several percentage points, and healthy ranges vary with age, ethnicity, muscularity and medical history. Discuss weight or body composition goals with a qualified clinician or dietitian.
None is authoritative. Devine dominates clinical pharmacy purely by convention; Robinson fits population data marginally better.
Not necessarily. A healthy BMI range is broad, and these formulas ignore muscularity and frame size entirely.
