Work out land levelling volume instantly with clear inputs, formula shown and shareable results.
Land levelling volume is area times the average depth of cut or fill, obtained from a grid of spot levels compared with the design surface. The net figure shows whether material must be imported or exported, while the loose haul volume, cut plus bulking, sizes the plant and truck movements.
Volumes
Cut = area x average cut depth; fill = area x average fill depth
Haul
Loose volume = cut x (1 + bulking)
Cut = area x average cut depth; fill = area x average fill depth. Land levelling volume is area times the average depth of cut or fill, obtained from a grid of spot levels compared with the design surface.
Fill is placed compacted, often denser than the ground it came from, so the cut volume needed to make a given fill volume can exceed it by 10-20 percent. That shrinkage factor is separate from bulking.
This calculator takes 4 inputs: Area to level, Average cut depth, Average fill depth, Bulking on excavation. The pre-filled defaults are a realistic worked example — replace them with your own site or project figures.
