Plan physiotherapy sessions.
Physiotherapy frequency is highest at the start and should taper deliberately. In the acute stage there is genuine value in frequent hands-on contact and close reassessment; by the strength and return-to-sport phases the work is progressive loading you do yourself, and clinic visits become checkpoints for reassessment and progression rather than treatment. This planner sets a weekly rate from your stage, then adjusts it for home compliance: patients doing five or six home sessions a week need meaningfully fewer clinic visits than those doing one, because the loading stimulus that actually remodels tissue is happening either way. The share of total rehab done in clinic makes the point plainly — in a well-run programme it should be a small minority.
Weekly clinic sessions
Weekly = stage rate x compliance factor
Compliance factor
Factor = 1 - (home days - 3) x 0.08, held between 0.6 and 1.3
Programme total
Total sessions = round(weekly x programme weeks); cost = total x fee
General wellbeing guidance for recreational planning, not medical advice. Individual needs vary with health conditions, medication and injury history. Consult a qualified health professional — a doctor, physiotherapist or accredited practitioner — before starting, changing or relying on any recovery, therapy or training protocol.
The stimulus that remodels tendon, muscle and bone is progressive load, and almost all of that load is applied in your home programme. Clinic time is for assessment, technique correction, progression decisions and hands-on work that you cannot self-apply. Doing the home work well genuinely substitutes for contact time.
Not if it means the programme stalls. Too little supervision commonly leads to exercises progressing too slowly or being performed wrong, extending the total timeline. The cost that matters is the whole episode, not the per-visit fee.
Stages progress on capability, not on the calendar. Choose the stage that reflects what you can currently do and load without a symptom flare. Some injuries sit in early rehab for months; others clear it in ten days.
