How it works
Oversubscription works because subscribers do not all transmit at once, so the sector only has to carry the committed rate divided by the ratio. Inverting the same relationship gives the number of subscribers a sector can sell before the committed rates no longer fit. Point-to-multipoint sites fail commercially, not technically: sell one oversubscription ratio too aggressively and the sector saturates every evening at exactly the hour customers notice.
