How it works
All shoe sizing systems trace back to foot length, measured by the Brannock device. Men's US sizes follow: US = (length_in_inches × 3) − 22; women's replace 22 with 20.5. EU (Paris points) is approximately US_men + 33 for men and US_women + 31 for women. UK is US − 1 for men and US − 2.5 for women. Japanese mondopoint is simply the foot length in millimetres rounded to the nearest 5.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why are men's and women's sizes different for the same foot?
US women's sizes run about 1.5 sizes larger than men's for the same foot length because they originated on separate lasts with different scale offsets. A woman's US 9 ≈ a man's US 7.5.
What does EU shoe size actually measure?
EU sizes use Paris points, where 1 Paris point = 2/3 cm. An EU 44 corresponds to a foot length of roughly 28 cm (44 × 2/3 − some offset for the last). The 'EU' system is also called 'Continental European' and is used across most of Europe.
Is JP shoe size the same as cm?
Very close — JP mondopoint is the foot length in millimetres rounded to 5 mm, so JP 270 means a 27 cm (270 mm) foot. It's one of the most intuitive systems because it directly measures the body.
