Estimate time watching sports seasons.
Following a season costs more time than the fixture list suggests because the broadcast is longer than the match and the punditry is longer still. A ninety-minute football match runs about 115 minutes as a broadcast, and adding pre-match build-up and post-match analysis often pushes a matchday past two hours. Multiplying by the games you actually watch and converting to full days puts the season in perspective.

Half-time, stoppage time, reviews, timeouts and advertising breaks all sit inside the broadcast window. In sports with frequent stoppages the gap between playing time and broadcast time is far larger.
Dramatically. A ten-minute highlights package covers a match at roughly a tenth of the time cost, which is why highlight-only viewers follow a full season in a handful of hours.
