Prepare for annual performance reviews.
Annual review preparation fails when it is left as one large undefined task. Sizing it from the number of accomplishments you intend to evidence, plus a fixed allowance for drafting the overall narrative, converts it into a concrete number of hours. Spreading those across the sessions you actually have before the review gives a per-session target small enough to keep, which is what stops the work landing the night before.
Review preparation schedule
Total minutes = accomplishments x minutes each + 90 minutes narrative; per session = total minutes / (weeks x sessions per week)
Six to ten substantial items usually fills a review cycle. Fewer than four looks thin for a full year; more than a dozen dilutes the strong ones and rarely gets read in full.
The situation, what you specifically did, and a measurable outcome. The measurable part is what takes the 30-40 minutes — finding the actual figure rather than asserting an improvement.
Three to four weeks out is comfortable at this pace. The better answer is to keep a running note through the year, which reduces the documentation time per item to under ten minutes.
