Rehearsal planning fails when only playing time is counted. Every run-through carries a stop, a discussion and a restart — about ninety seconds in practice — and load-in, tuning and soundcheck take roughly twenty-five minutes off the top of every session. Adding those to the raw playing time is what turns twelve songs into a realistic number of rehearsals rather than an optimistic single evening.

Two to three for material the band already knows, five or more for new arrangements. Diminishing returns set in quickly within a single session — spacing repetitions across rehearsals retains more.
Yes, at least once before a show. Sequencing, transitions and stamina are only tested by a complete run, and problems there are invisible when songs are rehearsed individually.
