Work out crusher throughput instantly with clear inputs, formula shown and shareable results.
Crusher capacity scales with the discharge opening: the mean of closed and open side settings times the chamber width gives the effective gap area, and material passes through it at a velocity set by the eccentric speed. Opening the closed side setting raises throughput but coarsens the product, shifting load to downstream stages.
Crusher opening
Open side setting = closed side setting + eccentric throw; gap area = mean setting x chamber width
Throughput
Throughput = gap area x discharge velocity x bulk density x fill factor
It sets the product top size and therefore both throughput and the load passed to the next stage. Setting it is the primary lever in balancing a crushing circuit.
Keeping the chamber full so rock crushes against rock rather than against the liners. It improves product shape, throughput and liner life, and is standard practice for cone crushers.
