Deduplication removes repeated blocks and compression shrinks what remains, so the two multiply rather than add. Transfer time falls in direct proportion to the bytes that actually cross the link. Replication and backup windows are usually the reason a DCI or branch circuit gets upgraded, and a 6:1 effective ratio can defer that upgrade entirely.
