Check electronics warranty coverage time.
Warranty cover is a simple clock: standard plus extended months, less the months elapsed since purchase. The reason to compute it explicitly is that extended cover usually runs concurrently from the purchase date rather than starting when the standard warranty ends, so a two-year standard warranty plus a three-year plan often means three years total, not five.
Cover remaining
Months remaining = standard warranty + extended warranty - months since purchase
Cover consumed
Cover used = months since purchase / total cover months x 100
Usually not. Most extended plans run from the purchase date and simply take over once the manufacturer cover lapses, so read whether the term is total or additional.
Rarely on cheap items, more defensibly on expensive laptops and phones where accidental damage cover is included. Statutory consumer rights in many countries already cover manufacturing defects beyond the stated warranty.
