Work out lift traffic analysis instantly with clear inputs, formula shown and shareable results.
Lift group performance is judged on two numbers. Handling capacity is the share of building population moved in five minutes, and interval is round trip time divided by the number of cars, which is what a passenger experiences as waiting time. Offices target twelve to fifteen percent handling capacity and an interval under thirty seconds.
Handling capacity
Passengers per 5 min = 300 / RTT x 0.8 x car capacity x lifts; capacity percent = that / population
Interval
Interval = round trip time / number of lifts
Preliminary estimate only. Vertical transportation performance should be confirmed by simulation from a lift consultant.
Passengers per 5 min = 300 / RTT x 0.8 x car capacity x lifts; capacity percent = that / population. Lift group performance is judged on two numbers.
It improves interval but not handling capacity per car. Destination dispatch control shortens round trip time itself, which improves both at once.
This calculator takes 4 inputs: Number of lifts in the group, Car capacity, Round trip time, Building population. The pre-filled defaults are a realistic worked example — replace them with your own site or project figures.
