Work out quarry production estimate instantly with clear inputs, formula shown and shareable results.
Production per blast is face length x bench height x advance x rock density. Around 5% is typically lost as fines, oversize needing secondary breaking, and overburden dilution, so saleable product is below the blasted tonnage. Dividing annual target by tonnes per blast gives the blasting frequency to plan for.
Blast production
Volume = face length x bench height x advance; tonnes = volume x rock density
Quarry blasting, face stability and edge protection are governed by mining and quarrying safety regulation. Faces must be inspected by a competent person and blasts designed to control flyrock and vibration.
Burden and the number of rows fired. Deeper advances mean more rows, which increases confinement, worsens fragmentation at the back and raises vibration.
Multiply tonnes per blast by realistic blasts per year, allowing for weather, permitted blasting windows, plant availability and market demand rather than geometry alone.
