Track how much of a syllabus you have covered.
Coverage percentage is only half the picture; pace is the other. Comparing the topics per week you have achieved so far against the topics per week now required tells you whether the remaining schedule is realistic. That comparison catches the common situation where coverage looks reasonable at sixty percent but the remaining weeks demand double the pace achieved so far.

Coverage = topics completed / total topics x 100; current pace = topics completed / weeks elapsed
Required pace
Required pace = topics remaining / weeks remaining
Rarely. Weight by exam marks available where you can — a topic worth twenty percent of the paper deserves more than one worth three, regardless of how the syllabus lists them.
Triage now rather than later. Deliberately choosing which topics to cover thoroughly beats attempting everything and covering all of it too shallowly to use.
