Freight is charged on tonne-kilometres: quantity x distance x rate. The trip count matters separately because a part-loaded vehicle still costs a full trip, so rounding the load up to whole vehicles often reveals a cheaper option in a larger truck or a consolidated shipment.

Hauliers usually quote a round-trip rate on a one-way distance for agricultural freight. If you are running your own vehicle, double the distance to capture the empty return.
Compare the price difference per tonne between markets against the freight cost per tonne. If the distant market's premium is smaller than the freight, sell locally.
