Yield is production divided by harvested area, but wet grain weighs more than dry grain, so comparable yields must be corrected to a standard trade moisture using the dry-matter ratio (100 - actual moisture) / (100 - standard moisture). Wheat and maize are usually traded at 14%, paddy at 14% and soybean at 13%.
