Writing usable notes takes longer than the lecture that produced them. At about ninety seconds per slide, a thirty-eight slide lecture is nearly an hour of write-up, and each review pass adds roughly forty percent of that as you condense and annotate. The ratio of note minutes to lecture minutes is the figure worth watching — anything much above one and a half suggests transcribing rather than processing.
