Plan listening practice for language learning.
Listening practice is usually planned as an hours target, but raw hours overstate progress when comprehension is low. Weighting completed hours by comprehension gives the hours that actually carried meaning, which is the input that drives improvement — audio far above your level functions as background noise. Dividing the remaining target by your daily habit gives the calendar.
Timeline
Days to target = (target hours - hours completed) x 60 / daily listening minutes
Comprehended input
Effective hours = hours completed x comprehension percent / 100
Roughly seventy to ninety percent — high enough to follow, low enough to stretch. Below about fifty percent the audio provides little usable input beyond sound familiarity.
Partly. Passive exposure builds phonological familiarity but contributes far less to comprehension than focused listening. Log it separately from attentive practice.
