Public rapid charging carries three charges: energy, a session or connection fee, and increasingly an idle fee once charging finishes. Expressing the all-in total as cost per hundred kilometres is what makes it comparable against petrol and against home charging.
Session cost
Total = kWh x price + session fee + idle fee x idle minutes
Cost per 100 km
Cost = total / (kWh / consumption per 100 km x 100) x 100
