Estimate food for a watch party.
Watch party catering is unusual because consumption is driven by duration rather than by appetite — people graze steadily for three hours whether or not they were hungry when they arrived. That makes snacks a per-hour quantity: about two ounces a guest per hour of broadcast, so fourteen guests over three and a half hours get through six pounds of chips, pretzels and nuts. Dip is per guest rather than per hour at around three ounces, because it is eaten with the snacks rather than independently. Six wings a head is the conventional allowance and it is one of the few items where running out is noticed, so round up.
Watch Party Food
Snacks lb = guests x hours x oz per hour / 16; dip lb = guests x dip oz / 16; wings = guests x wings per guest; drinks = guests x hours x drinks per hour
Six as a shared snack alongside other food, and ten to twelve if wings are the meal. Round up — it is the item guests notice running out.
Because grazing is time-driven. A three-hour broadcast gets through roughly 50% more snacks than a two-hour one for the same guests, regardless of how much they ate beforehand.
