Fabric consumption per garment is marker length divided by garments in the marker, uplifted for end loss, splice loss and cutting waste. Marker efficiency shows how much of that is actually in the garment; the balance is inter-pattern waste that only a better marker can recover.

Net fabric
Net fabric in garment = marker consumption x marker efficiency
Mixing sizes in one marker, allowing tilt where the fabric permits, grouping small parts into gaps and using CAD nesting. Gains of 2-4 percentage points are normal, and on high volumes that is a large material saving.
The fabric at the start and end of each lay that cannot be cut, plus splice overlaps at roll changes and edge trim. It is typically 2-5% of the lay length.
