Work out age graded race performance instantly with clear inputs, formula shown and shareable results.
Age grading compares your time with the world standard for your age, so performances across decades become comparable. A 48 minute 10 km at 45 against a 26:18 open standard gives about 62%, because the age factor of 1.078 relaxes the standard to 28:21. Anything over 80% is regional class and over 90% is world class.
Age-graded percentage
grade = age standard time / actual time x 100
Age factor
approximately 1 + 0.0045(age - 30) + 0.00012(age - 30)^2
This is an estimate from population-average equations, not a medical or diagnostic assessment. Individual results vary with genetics, training history and technique. Seek advice from a qualified coach or clinician before making significant changes to training.
Above 60% is above average, 70% is a good club runner, 80% is regional class and over 90% is national or world class.
Official WMA tables are distance and sex specific and slightly different. This is a general approximation of their shape.
