Work out push up test score instantly with clear inputs, formula shown and shareable results.
Push-up norms fall with age at roughly 0.45 reps a year for men and 0.3 for women from a mid-twenties peak of about 36 and 24 respectively. Thirty-five reps at 30 is close to 108% of the age norm - solidly average to above average. Form matters more than count: chest to a fist's height, body in a straight line, no pausing.
Age-adjusted norm
expected = base - decline x (age - 25)
Score
percentage = reps / expected x 100
This is an estimate from population-average equations, not a medical or diagnostic assessment. Individual results vary with genetics, training history and technique. Seek advice from a qualified coach or clinician before making significant changes to training.
Norms here assume full push-ups. Knee push-ups are a different exercise and cannot be compared against these figures.
Elbows to at least 90 degrees, body held rigid, no resting at the top. Partial reps inflate counts and make comparisons meaningless.
