Work out tonnage lifted instantly with clear inputs, formula shown and shareable results.
Tonnage sums the volume load of every lift in a session and is normally reported in tonnes because the numbers get large: 4800 plus 3200 plus 5400 is 13.4 tonnes, and three such sessions total 40.2 tonnes a week. Powerlifting programmes often manage weekly tonnage explicitly, keeping week-on-week changes under about 10%.
Session tonnage
tonnage = sum of volume loads across lifts
Weekly tonnage
weekly = session tonnage x sessions per week
This is an estimate from population-average equations, not a medical or diagnostic assessment. Individual results vary with genetics, training history and technique. Seek advice from a qualified coach or clinician before making significant changes to training.
Anything from 20 tonnes for a novice to over 100 for an advanced powerlifter. The absolute number matters far less than its trend.
Because squats and deadlifts generate most of the systemic fatigue, so a high share signals a session that needs more recovery.
